About This Image

We decided to spend a weekend in the Grand Canyon. It is just a two and a half hour drive from my home. The weather report was calling for snow and we figured we were going to get snowed in but did not care LOL..

The Grand Canyon is still being made by the Colorado River flowing through the bottom. The Grand Canyon is two hundred miles long, four to eighteen miles wide, and one mile deep. When you walk out on a lookout area you feel like your in a airplane.

The weather was really cold and windy. It would snow and then the sun would come out and melt it. This went on all weekend long. We would hang out in the shops by the fireplaces while it was snowing, then go out and take photos when the sun came out. You can see the wall of snow passing through in this photo.

Hi Anne, Thank You very much for your really nice thoughts about my photo. I'm glad you enjoyed it :) I did not think about the rock formations looking like old stone buildings. There were some Indians there but they were around me taking photos toooo LOL.. I hope you get the chance to see the Grand Canyon, it is amazing and photo ops galore..

How very beautiful!!! I just gazed at it for a while and wished I could have been there. The gray sky, white mist and fog! Wow!! It looked there were some ancient buildings that had crumbled. With my imagination I could almost see the Indians and some pioneer in the picture. The redness in the background and the light hitting that one red mountain - Wow!! Wish I had been there to see it first hand - g.!!! Beautiful!

Hi Vicki, Thanks very much.. I'm glad it reminded you of a favorite place. Now days to be there when just a few people are around is in the winter. It was really cold and windy, only us photo nuts were out by the wall taking photos. Hey Alandra, Vincent, Carol, and Karen - I'm sorry it has taken me two years to answer. What can I say? Thank You All so much for your wonderful comments. Alandra I sure hope you get the chance to spend a day or more there.
