After an ice storm, this little tree caught my eye at my Mom's house.

Guest - Oct 04, 2006 06:53 AM EDT thanks for the reply, Priscilla. Welcome also, - in my eagerness to ask about the tree, - forgot to say that : ) - as this has been a mystery to us for sometime now, about why our tree just up and died like that. Can see now that this is most likely a japanese maple. Without the leaves, it was hard to see the difference.
Guest - Oct 03, 2006 04:37 PM EDT Alandra, If I remember correctly, my Mom called this a Japanese maple. It is very small. Only about 2 feet tall in this photo. And yes, it survived this ice storm, and several others! It is very pretty in the summer. It's a shame she is moving and can't take the little bugger with her.
Thanks for the welcome Alan! And the comments.
Guest - Oct 03, 2006 04:04 PM EDT this looks very similar to our weeping pea tree. Am wondering if this one will survive this ice on its branches?? Ours never recovered from a late snowfall just as the buds were forming on the branches, and it's remained "dead" ever since, for the past year or more.
Guest - Oct 03, 2006 02:16 PM EDT Hi Pris, Welcome to TLF.. I have always liked your photo of the little tree trying to survive. The ice that has collected on every branch is amazing to this desert lizard LOL..
