chriss35 - May 17, 2008 01:43 PM EDT Talsi, Many thanks for the special image, sorry it's taken me a bit of time to get back to you.
Yes we are all right it's a Rhododendron, as to what varietie it is I'm not sure about.
If you e-mail a copy to the America Horticultural Society in North Carolina at www.ahs.org I am more than sure they will help. Chriss:)
talsi - May 12, 2008 08:38 AM EDT Thank you
Alandra and Golda for your comments and opinions. The leaves do look like they could be from the rhodo family, but the bloom was quite large compared to other rhodos around here that are mostly shades of pink and white. I guess I will have to print it out and take it over to the Com. College and see what they say.
alandrapal - May 12, 2008 02:29 AM EDT Hi Beverly, also believe this to be a rhodo (rhododendron). They are all coming into bloom in our area right now, - infact some of the earlier varieties have been blooming for at least the past month. Lovely shrubs.
golda - May 11, 2008 10:24 PM EDT Hi Talsi, this looks very much like a Rhododendrum to me.
