About This Image

These beautiful birds stay in stagnant salty waters, where they feed. They breed in Kutch, Gujarat.
Two types are seen: the greater flamingo is taller and has a red beak. The lesser flamingo has a dark beak and only red stripes on its'wings

Yes,it was very thrilling! We are indeed lucky to have them every winter here in Mumbai,but its' the first time I went out with a group to see them. They are seen in the salty backwaters of Sewree and Mahul and you have to go first in a motorboat and later in a rowboat to get close to them. Thanks,Carol and Sparkle for the comments.
