About This Image

here's Father Owl, in the last rays of the setting sun, in a pine tree, a bit farther away from where the owl nest is, in the cottonwood tree. The Mama owl was perched on a branch close to the nest. sorry there are so many small branches in the way.

Hi Lorraine, thanks for commenting, - yes, about the branches, quite often I do clone them out, but this time, thought, - as you said, "well, that's how he was" so just left them in there, all part of the natural habitat :)

Its a lovely image, the branches can be a pain but thats where he is, he looks very majastic sitting up there.

thanks very much, Steve, for your nice comments. I also liked the effects of the sun's last rays on the owl and a little patch on the tree trunk. It's so good to be able to watch these wonderful birds again, - we'd been a bit afraid that they'd left the park to nest elsewhere.

The sunset rays have made the owl look as if it's made of terracotta or something. It hardly looks like a living thing at all! I think the wonderful contrast with the pale blue sky adds to this feeling of unreality. A superb image.
