Falcate Orangetip, Anthocharis midea
This mated pair stayed mated for more than three hours, and allowed me to pose these photos inside my house. After I found them it started to rain so I brought them inside and shot these shots with my back door open to use the natural light.
Taken in Orange Co., NC on March 28, 2005.

such an unusual pattern on the wings of these butterflies, have never seen them. beautiful. am also enjoying all the interesting info you are sharing about these "jewels"
