Experiment with pencil portrait of girl on canvas, dragged and softened with a very thin wash of white oil paint, to fix the lead pencil and create deeper contrast. This photo enhanced by video software contrast and glow effect; this software only saves at specific jpeg resolution so some resolution is lost but the updated photo is only to guide me through further work on the original 24 x 18 inch canvas. The study is the expression created when trying not to laugh, based on a collection of photos which give example to fine bone structures, also to decide when to finish or leave a painting considering less as more. 'Eyes are smiling' is the 5th of a five canvases, 3 of which still changing direction and being photographed at various stages of decision.
