About This Image

This picture tells an interesting story. White egrets are fairly common here in Northern Calfornia, and occassionaly we see some Snowy Egrets. I have noticed in the past that Snowy Egrets are far more territorial about their fishing areas than White Egrets. In fact, just about every time I have observed Snowy Egrets, I have witnessed a tiff over a fishing area. This photo shoot was no different.

In this photo one Snowy Egret chases off another who has just moved into the area. Watching the scene with some curiosity is a White Egret. As you will note that White Egret is significantly larger than the Snowy Egrets.

Excellent shot, and a fascinating explanation. The dark rocks in the foreground balance the white birds perfectly and add class to the composition.
