About This Image

could be American Wigeons -- Saw this cute pair of ducks as I was capturing swan images on the bridge. Had never seen this type of duck before, When I left the bridge, Mr and Mrs Duck were sleeping in the short reeds beside the river, which is where they were heading when this image was captured :)

thanks for the help, Andy :) Had checked the bird book in meantime and believe these are American Wigeons as they didn't appear to be small. Will double check later. thanks again

Very nice capture, Alandra. What you have is either a pair of Gree-Winged Teal, or American Wigeon, but Iam leaning towards the Teal. Teal are small 15'@14oz. and the Wigeon are 21"@1½Lb. Wigeon are very nervous and raft up in groups offshore.
