Just had to view this again as it inspired me to make my dry stone wall. After one week and four huge trailer loads of rocks,(and a sore back!) I have finally finished and its such a good feeling to sit in the garden and say 'I built that'!!

Yes, these walls are truly built in the old style - no mortar, just well placed stone. It must have taken ages to finish one field.

it's really a great image. Reminds me of the stone walls in Yorkshire that I saw when visiting with my aunt and uncle years ago. These walls have always been appealing to me.

I'd recently watched a TV programme where some elderly English gentlemen were showing the 'true old way' these were made. You wall looks just so. Remarkable photograph!

I saw some of these wall in the south Island of New Zealand, I like them, a natural way of blending in with the country side.
