About This Image

doorway of the Vancouver Marine Building, downtown Vancouver, BC Canada. (355 Burrard Street).
the Marine Building is Vancouver's finest example of Art Deco architecture. It was once the tallest building in the British Empire.
The Marine Bldg opened in 1930 at a cost of $2.3 million ($1.1 million over budget), it was the talk of the town. Uniformed doormen stood by the massive brass doors opening onto the dazzling lobby, and sailor-suited women waited to escort passengers in 5 high speed elevators. It was by far the most glamorous structure many visitors had seen in their lives.

thought the same, Steve. Infact, the thumbnail of your image showed up at the side of the page where my image was, -- so I checked it then. We went back to this Marine building yesterday, so I switched lenses around and took a few more shots of it. I want to get inside that building since "googling" it and reading about the interesting items in the interior :)

Interesting to compare this to my shot of the entrance to the Natural History Museum in London! www.thelensflare.com/gallery/p_museum_35499.php

thanks Carol, there's a lot more "to it", but it's kindof hard to capture properly :)
