About This Image

This was taken at Fort St. Jean Baptiste in Natcitoches, Louisiana. The tables are all set as if they are waiting for someone to come eat. The only things missing are people and food. Food in the area was probably mostly grown and caught in the area. The area can be used for gardening most of the year. There could have been imported food but that might have to entail refrigeration, something they did not have.

Thanks for the great comments!! This fort was at the first permenant settlement in Louisiana, Natchitoches. They actually rebuilt the wooden fort and its buildings by hand.

great shot, Dud, it has a lot of atmosphere, of byegone times. also really like the way you captured the tankard in foreground and the "glint" in the pewter.

What a wonderful photo. I love the mood set in it and the B&W certainly gives it a great feel Z

I really like places that recreate a time period. It really gives one a sense of being there. Nice shot.
