I was taking photos in the town of High Springs, Florida when I noticed many yellow butterflies climbing up inside the trumpets of these purple blooms for their nectar.

stunning image and very interesting about the many butterflies drinking the nectar, Vicki. Didn't realize this was a butterfly, til reading your description, - thought it was some unusual part of a flower that I'd never seen before : ) lovely with the raindrops on the blossom.
