About This Image

The Army Corps of Engineers flood control dam in the Genesee River at Mt. Morris, NY. This is at the north end of Letchworth State Park. There is normally no water being retained, except in the spring or in extended wet conditions.

Thanks for the comments, Shutterbug, Jas and Whittler. This shot is from the Corps of Engineers Dam Site, across the river from Letchworth Park, and a couple miles south of Mt. Morris on the road to Nunda. There's a visitor center with some pretty good historical displays, and tours of the dam are available in the summer. There are also some very scenic trails nearby along the top of the gorge, as well as a stretch of the very long Finger Lakes Trail. A good place to use up a day.

A great shot of the dam sounds like I might get a chance to see it this summer. LOL

Great aerial shot of the damn. I've enjoyed looking at all your shots of Letchworth State Park and would just love to visit there myself. :)
