About This Image

different type of daffodil, quite a small and early variety, growing on our front patio. Doesn't seem to have the "trumpet" in the centre as other daffodils have.

Hello Steve, thank you also, and for the info, - hadn't thought of the reason they stay true, but see what you mean. I agree entirely with you, about preferring the trumpet type. We have a clump of daffs with very pretty "double" types of centers/can't really call it a trumpet centre/--unfortunately the heads are so top heavy that they usually end up falling over from rain or wind. - so then we pick them and bring them indoors to enjoy.

Hi Golda, thanks very much, -- yes, this variety is quite small and early, - they are the first to bloom in our borders.

Nice shot, Alandra! There are hundreds of daffodil cultivars, and because they are propogated by bulb, not seed, these types stay true. It's pretty enough, but my heart will always be with the classic trumpet form!! Steve
