Although covered bridges are very much associated with small town America, especially Pennsylvania, they can be found around Europe too. The reason covered bridges came about is that early bridges were built mainly of wood. Wood rots! Especially in the damp and an average bridge life was only about 8-10 years. Covering it and thus helping to protect it from the weather would lengthen their life by 10x. Sorry, I don't have aTV, just camera, computer and books! ;-)
