About This Image

Clematis Josephine, is a lush variety that has double flowers comprising a single outer ring of what are correctly known as tepals, and a fluffy inner ring of smaller petals. The flowers are a good pink with darker stripes and they come from early summer to early autumn. The plant reaches 2.5m (8ft) in height. It needs part to full sun to do best.
This is the first bloom of this year's growth and I managed to get this shot before the rain came and spoiled it. :(
Thanks for viewing. :)

Thank you ALL for the lovely comments! The centre of the bloom, gradually, opens up to form several layers of petals like the ones that are showing, on the right of the image. It flowers right through the summer, so, great value for money! :)

The detail and clarity are so well captured, Jas. I to have clematis, but don't have this particular one. It's beautifully photographed.

what a beauty that clematis is, Jas! One I hadn't heard of before. Have always liked the looks of the double clematis, but haven't had one so far. We've been thinking about getting a clematis for the front of the house, on that part beside the front patio, -- so after seeing this one, think we'll wait until we can find one here. Perhaps next year. We've had several single clematis over the years, but none have lasted very long, unfortunately. We had a lovely one several yrs ago called Horn of Plenty out front, and it put out its first bloom which I saw when I drew my bedroom curtains that morning, - went out a bit later to take a pic of it and it had already died from "clematis wilt". so that was the end of that one.

Great picture. The out of focus background does well to support the bloom.
