About This Image

this black capped chickadee was waiting on the windflower stem to take his turn to bathe, when he slipped and hung upside down. I know these birds do this naturally, but in this instance, one minute he was resting on the narrow stem, and suddenly he was upside down, for several frames, lol.
There was another chickadee lower down, at the water bubble, and it was looking up in surprise at the antics. Am not sure if this was a young chickadee or not. But at one point the 2 of them were at the water bubble at the same time, very unusual, have never seen that in all the time I've been watching these birds.

thanks Alan, -- well, I was capturing images of the little fella/gal as it was resting on the flower stem, as it was a pretty image of it with the pink flowers either side. So it was just luck that this happened and I was shooting at the time :) - I got 4 frames while he was hanging upside down.

What a funny and fun photo to view. Great job catching him upside down. I can imagine him thinking, lets see if I let go and flap my wings I'm going to crash on the ground pretty fast. If I just let go I won't hit the ground so hard ROFL...
