About This Image

Charcoal was one of the main industries of Piedmont, WY. There were four charcoal kilns built in 1869, but one has since colapsed. I'd estimate that these are about 25 feet tall, and they seem much bigger on the inside. Once inside, the smell of charcoal overpowers the senses. There was also an old blanket, a makeshift ring of stones for a campfire, and some sagebrush and weeds piled up. I'm not sure I would want to sleep in here, but apparently it has been used for that purpose fairly recently. They look like giant beehives to me. Maybe someday, I'll add a few wasps climbing out of the window for fun.

This was the first time I'd seen these too.

These are totally new to me, and look like something out of a Sci-Fi movie. Fascinating photo :)
