About This Image

This is the chapel inside the old Fort St. Jean de Baptiste. It was erected to protect Natchitoches Louisiana from Indians. Note the sanctuary. It was a Catholic chapel as it was run by the French, a Catholic area. It is on the border between Louisiana and Texas. Texas was at the time owned by Spain another Catholic country.
