Cedar Waxwing Male

About This Image
Cedar Waxwing - male I believe, will check. Captured from open front window with telephoto lens, - there was a pair of these lovely birds visiting our little stream yesterday and I was lucky enough to hear their strange "raspy" song, and opened the window intime. Had thought I'd heard their strange song the day before, but decided it was too early for their annual visit, but guess I was wrong, as here they were the next day :) I hope they return. Usually we only see these gorgeous birds on our patio a few times each summer. Their feathers have a certain special appearance that other birds don't have, so very sleek. They have a yellow band at the end of their tails, plus the mature adults' wingtips look as if they've been dipped in red wax.
