About This Image
This is the room the Superior Council, the Cabildo, and the state legislature met in. It is also where the Louisiana Purchase was signed. This room also served as a court room and many important decisions were made here. At least three continued to the U.S. Supreme Court. One of those three was the famous case of Plessy vs. Ferguson in which separate but equal was approved. It was later overturned but it did stand for a long time.
