Thank you Alandra and Mary Sham. This was in the afternoon and it did look like the flowers were illuminated with a soft yellow glow. I kept coming back to this spot.

These are quite common. The ranchers burn off the thorns and feed them to their cattle.

lovely shot. what a beautiful sunshiney yellow colour also. how unique to see a heart shape like that on a cactus, - at least, for me it is : )
