Guest - Dec 13, 2006 05:16 PM EDT Great looking Monarch capture Carol! The problem with me is that at that same time of morning I'm still trying to get up to operating temperature. :-) Don
Guest - Dec 13, 2006 03:45 PM EDT what else can i say that has not been said ? fantastic shot such clarity.. intresting info about early morning ....but i like my bed lol so i just get the day shots
Guest - Dec 13, 2006 11:49 AM EDT Thanks Steve for the info, this is really great to really know because next summer I will be out there very early.
Guest - Dec 13, 2006 09:08 AM EDT Carol, you're absolutely correct. The first thing any insect or reptile must do in the morning is warm up to "operating" temperature as quickly as possible. This is also the period when they are most vulnerable to predators. So early morning sunbathing is both a necessary and perilous routine, as well as a great opportunity for wildlife photographers!
Guest - Dec 13, 2006 08:18 AM EDT Thanks Sparkle,Karen and Steve,I was able to get very close to this one early one morning before it got active.
I find with the butterflies they stay still the best the earlier you get out there in the morning.
This is my idea of it ,it may not be any truth to it.LOL
Guest - Dec 13, 2006 03:31 AM EDT Carol, I agree with the other comments that this is a remarkably sharp image, and it fully does justice to the butterfly's beauty.
Guest - Dec 12, 2006 10:31 PM EDT Beautiful capture with sharp detail and blurred backgriund. Well done!
Guest - Dec 12, 2006 08:06 PM EDT That is the most clear shot of a butterfly that I have ever seen. Superb shot.
