Karen, This is a Texan Crescent, Phyciodes texana and they are very hard to even get a photograph of. Cool garden visitor.

Yes, I have noticed that they seem to seek flowers that compliment their colors. Maybe it's camouflage.

I like the way the flowers echo the colors on the butterfly.
