Note the "Velcro hooks" on the base of the flower. That part develops into the familiar burr that connects so well with dog fur and soft fabrics on autumn walks.

This plant is so interesting to view with it's details, etc. But, I echo Carol and say when you get them on your clothes or the pet, these plants are a headache. Nice composition and colors.
