Bike Path Along the South Rim Canal
|
About This Image
The 30 foot tall Herbert Hoover Dike and the South Rim Canal on the other side were constructed around 1937 to help control the waters of Lake Okeechobee in Florida, after two huge floods killed more than a thousand people and destroyed valuable crop lands.
Now, bikers and hikers enjoy the trail along the top of the rim, and boaters fish in the canal or enjoy the wildlife.
