About This Image

I have been following everyone's comments regarding the preference in this series for greater exposure to bring out detail in the rock. As these series of shots progressed over nearly half an hour, the light dimmed and I was tempted to use my flash to illumniate the scene. Fortunately, I had a cooperative subject close enough for me to use my flash for a few of the shots. This helped to illuminate the subjects somewhat. Here is one variation using the flash to help with the fill light. One interesting result is how the reflection off the water appears on the egrets body.

Interesting and lovely composition and color. I have found that using the flash can bring out the sky color at sunset.

WOW I agree this is fantastic. I think the background adds to the image. This would be my Fav of this series

WOW ... i can see what steve is saying as the background can be distracting however i feel maybe if this was removed it would still have an impact but not as good as this does?

I like this version a lot! The reflection that you mentioned makes it look almost as if the egret has internal lighting! I can't make up my mind whether the composition is helped or marred by the horizontal strip of land at the top. I think on balance I might have cropped it off. Then on the other hand...!
