full view of the Band Tailed Pigeon, showing the band on its tail. Very cautious and timid birds. This is the first time I've seen it at the fountain drinking. These birds are protected here. (they are not the ordinary pigeons, btw) - these don't roost on peoples' houses and cause problems.

thanks again Karen. Do you have a tame dove? These band tailed pigeons do have such lovely smooth feathers, - almost as if a "powdery" finish is on them :)

A beautiful bird. The head reminds me of our white-winged dove.

thanks again Lorraine. Yes, we are very fond of these gentle birds. I wonder if anyone has noticed the difference in size perched on the bubbler/fountain, compared to the tiny hummingbird, LOL
