About This Image

Bald Eagle flying free, away from the nesting area. This was taken from quite a distance. There are several Bald Eagle nests in the same area as where the Great Blue Herons are nesting. This is not the best of eagle shots (not like Fellas : ) - but will keep trying : )

We could see two Bald Eagles sitting on their nests when there last evening, - their white heads show up well in the green of the trees. They barely move. But they are too far away to get a really good photo. I did take a few and may send them in just to show, for anyone interested.

thanks again Tania for your nice comments. In the meantime I have got some sharper Bald Eagle pics, so hope you find them here. But still hoping to get "the perfect shot" :)

thanks Carol, that's interesting too and am glad the programs are working. I heard about that webcam where you could watch the eagle eggs hatch, but didn't see it early enough. Someone around here has been killing the bald eagles, some months ago, - it was upsetting. They wanted the claws and beaks. Hard to believe how someone would want to do that.

The eagles in Maine were almost extinct, they are really trying to bring them back, a while ago they had a site you could watch the eagles hatching their eggs, it was really neat.Same with the wild turkeys here they had a program for that too and all they would have to do is come to my place to see how that program has worked.Every morning Turkeys are all around here. LOL. Carol

thanks for the suggestion, Mary, but I did try every combination I could : ) -- I think the white balance setting on camera is what will work (if I can figure it out : ) Was smiling when I just Re Read my earlier comment about " will keep trying til I get the perfect shot" LOL, - will see me down there, freezing in the wind coming off the ocean, til I'm 90, hahaha - by that time the lens will be toooo heavy for me to hold : )

thankyou Mary and Alex, - am surprised you don't have them around your area, Alex. Mary, I know what you mean re the white area and eyes etc. Was wishing it was sharper myself. He was flying towards the sunset in those shots, too, which doesn't help. Must be what is called "white balance", haven't attempted to work on that yet : ) - lots to learn, -- as as you know, don't like reading manuals : ) but guess I'll have to. No, am not using a tripod, never have. The lens is "IS", which is a feature I love. Will keep trying til I get the "perfect shot" : )

Nice capture. Can you make some lens adjustment so the white area is sharper? Maybe Fella can help regarding settings. Are you using a tripod? You are getting some nice shots.
