About This Image

Among the most spactacular of all Autumn fruits are gourds, squashes and pumpkins. The plants that produce them are all members of the Cucurbitacae-the cucurbit family-together with cucumbers, melons, marrows and loofahs. In total, the family consists of 100 genera and almost 700 species.

I took this image in my garden, with the gourds
laying on a bed of fullen leaves.
