there were many of these autumn crocus beneath the trees all through the VanDusen gardens. Other names for this flower/plant are Wild Saffron, Meadow Saffron, Naked Lady (due to there being no leaves, just flowers : )

that's very nice of you, Steve, thankyou so much :) We had a lovely day there that day and took out a membership, - must get back there, - was thinking how pretty it will look if we get snow this winter.

Alandra, I think this is one of your best photos, whatever the "score" might imply! The contrast, the distribution of the flowers within the frame, and the control of exposure are all excellent! There are so many great pictures on this site that it's all too easy to miss a gem like this.
