Guest - Apr 19, 2006 06:50 PM EDT The first time I saw one of these, I thought it was "guarding" its territory! It's quite something to see that silvery under layer of feathers when they're drying them. The Southwest Florida International Airport in Florida has several of them around their ponds. Watching them dive for fish is quite a sight to see too..
Guest - Apr 19, 2006 03:30 PM EDT This is an interesting bird. It doesn't have oil in its feathers like ducks, so it is able to swim under water. It has to sit with it's wings outspread to dry after swimming.
