Along the Airline

About This Image
This is along the Airline Highway. The highway connects New Orleans and Baton Rouge. It was built during the era of Huey Long. It is said that Huey drew a line in the air and said he wanted a straight path from New Orleans to Baton Rouge. Previous to this the only way to get to New Orleans from Baton Rouge was along River Road which had twists and turns or should I say it meanders with the River. There is a ditch along the side of Airline Highway that was dredged in order to build up the land to make the highway. This is part of that ditch.
