This is a large male alligator at Gatorland. I was there for the bird nesting, but it is also breeding season for the alligators. This alligator let out a tremendous roar almost directly underneath where I was standing on the boardwalk. It was very unnerving. For the next 15 minutes or so, several of the large males put on a show of roaring and lifting out of the water. I was very glad for the boardwalks and fencing that kept me out of their reach.
