About This Image

This is a "mirador" or viewpoint. The windows were not glazed, and were carefully aligned to face Mecca. This mirador was designed for prayer.

Hi Anne! It's neither tapestry nor prayer rug, but more stucco plasterwork! I think because the left hand wall is close to the camera and out of focus, its fuzziness makes it look as if it's made of cloth. All the detail in the plasterwork is either quotations from the Koran, or else the words "God is great" in Arabic. You're absolutely right that the mirador looks out onto a courtyard of beautiful trees - so your eyesight can't be that bad!

Was that a tapestry on the wall - on my left - or a prayer rug? I loved the intricate details above the windows. Is each a symbol? Is there a courtyard right outside, where the tree is - if it is a tree. *g* My eyesight is not what it used to be. *LOL* Anyway, a beautiful picture. Anne
