About This Image

This headstone had such lovely flowers carved into it, there were tinges of colour but so pale, I could have got a better view had I stood on the grave, not me to do that.

I find it hard to under stand how people want to damage them, One caretaker I saw told me he was sick of kids hanging out at night in his cemetery, on one night he heard them arrive, he waited till they stopped ya hoo'ing and he snuck off around behind them, they hung out in the old part of the cemetery, he ran a spade up the back of an old headstone a few times, he said he had never seen kids run so fast,he said he had had no trouble since, as he was telling me, he laughed so much he almost had tears in his eyes, he reckoned they were still running, he said that made up for all the sad parts of the job.thanks for looking in Tania, like you say respect costs nothing

Lorraine when I first joined camera club our monthly comp was old headstones. A few of the ladies and I went to Patea Cemetary and started taking photos. I was saying excuse me sorry each time I thought I may have stepped on someones grave. the others I was with laughted and asked what I was doing that for. I said out of respect. When we got to the old Maori section I continued. They continued as they had been and their New cameras stopped working rewound and never worked again. Always be respectful.
